I was born and raised in Kochi, Japan. Kochi is surrounded by mountains and the Pacific Ocean. My youth was spent watching sea turtles and whales.

I moved to Kyoto and attended college where I earned an Associate degree and a Bachelors degree granted by Japan’s National Institution for Academic Degrees and Quality Enhancement of Higher Education. I have a teaching certificate granted by Kyoto prefecture board of education. I am currently taking courses for a newly developed Japanese language advanced teaching certificate that covers newer methods for teaching the Japanese language to non-native Japanese students.

I moved to the United States in 2001 with my husband and we have been in Albuquerque over 15 years. I have taught the Japanese language for beginners to Advanced Placement level since 2003. I enjoy teaching the Japanese language and sharing my culture and spirit. In my free time I love to cook, eat, travel, and have fun with my family here and abroad.

Japanese 1 and Japanese 2 students will learn Hiragana, Katakana (two kinds of basic Japanese characters) and Kanji (Chinese Characters) the students will learn basic grammar structures. All of the students will learn reading, writing, and speaking skills in Japanese.
