My name is Lynette Trujillo. This is my first year teaching at AIMS, but my 20th year teaching. I grew up in Los Lunas, NM, and went to college at Regis University in Denver, CO, where I studied English and Philosophy. After college, I was a Peace Corps volunteer teacher in Mozambique (Africa). Before going to graduate school in Reno, Nevada, I spent several months traveling in Central America and working on my Spanish. After getting my Master's Degree in “Literature and the Environment,” I spent two years teaching in Mexico. I began teaching in New Mexico in the early 2000s. I have taught 6th-12th grade English Language Arts and AP Literature and Composition and AP Language and Composition.
Aside from teaching, I love spending time with my family and my dogs, running, doing yoga, hiking, and traveling. I have been fortunate enough to travel to many countries and I love to share my passion for travel and languages with students. This school year I organized a trip to Italy and took a group of 19 students and adults to Rome, Florence, and Venice.
